Anyone here work with XServes? I'm planning on picking one up to use. I'm familiar with OS X Leopard Server, but I was just wondering if anyone had any experience with the hardware. I've been doing linux servers for years now, but I've always been a Mac guy so I figured it would be worth checking out.

Well that's a given haha so that's why Leopard Server might be a pretty nice platform to work with.

Maybe, maybe not. I'm not really looking to use it for primary hosting purposes, I have CentOS boxes to do that. This is all for educational purposes right now. Snow Leopard has some awesome features like iPhone Mobile Access. Should be pretty cool

Nah, I've got other servers doing that. I'd like to play around with some of the other features of the OS that I don't have available to me in linux. I'll still host some stuff on it still.

I'm using the G5 version of the xserve for quite a while. I can't say about the intel model but the G5 model blows. It's not very good at all. I can't wait till I can get rid of it. Just very slow.
