Apple shipping iPod nanos with cases

In what looks like an effort to put the whole nano scratching issue behind them, Apple has quietly begun shipping cases with iPod nanos. According to reports on various sites, the cases are similar to the thin fabric sleeves included with 5G iPods. The cases are not listed as standard accessories on Apple’s site, possibly because the company is still working its way through pre-case inventory. Watch for lawsuits from current nano owners who are bitter over not getting cases with their units.

They should've done this in the first place. Apple better offer them free to those who already bought one. :rant2:

Yeah, but don't they always release a whole mess of OEM and aftermarket covers a few months later?

Blame Steve Jobs for introducing the Nano from the coin pocket of his jeans for that. :mamoru:

my apple store never had any cases, all they had were those gay socks and arm bands, so i settled for a white armband. Ill just wait a couple weeks and get a free case. also my nano is scratch free.

Put it in your shirt pocket or a pocket that doesn't have coins or your keys in it?

5 plug nickles says that everyone who bought one didn't keep it in the hidden pocket of their jeans but just put it in the front, tossed it in a purse/bookbag or let it slide around their car while listening to it.

I take better care of my Shuffle than those people probably did their Nano's.

Do you have a nano to proclaim this?

If you had just bought/recieved a piece of equipment worth $250 and as thick as a couple credit cards would you not take extra care of it?

My wife has had her nano since they came out and she's about as rough on electronics as anyone I've ever met (her Dell 700M is pretty much trashed after 1.5 years) and the nano is just fine. Yes it has scratches, but nothing you would consider bad. You'd never get it out of her hands long enough to put a sleeve on it.

Who the fuck cares about scratches.
My Nomad is all scratched up, but it works, so I don't give a fuck.

So in other words, you don't have a Nano to make judgement.

I can tell you this. The Nano I have, never have been in a pants pocket. It either stay in my hand or is put into a little clothe coin bag, and yet the thing is VERY sensitive to scratches. Its much more visible on the black models than the white model.

I also find it funny that Apple said that the people who's nanos are too scratched up can return them for a full refund, yet instead they file a class-action because they want to keep the nano AND get a full refund. What a bunch of greedy bastards.

That little sleeve is a joke. I would get real case and throw that thing back in the box it came in.
