not really pulling a dell, they are the same batteries. they just suck in both a pc and a mac
That sucks... I'm a teacher, and we have 75 G4 ibooks on those rolling carts... looks like someone has some extra work to do...
somehow my moms dell and my powerbook both escaped this recall, i want a new battery damnit
both my Dell and Powerbook got it
needless to say I'm happy... hope they get here before I get burnzored but I've had both computers for over a year

Last week, Dell recalled 4.1 million laptop computers containing Sony batteries because of the potential for overheating. Sony expects the recalls will cost the company between $172 million and $250 million, according to the announcement.
Apple owners should call (800) 275-2273 between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. Central Time from Monday through Sunday or log on to Apple's Web site to check the battery's serial number and request a replacement battery.
site is down and the phone line keeps coming up busy
thanks, I'll send the info on to my gf that has an iBook.
unfortunatly, battery issues have been a constant problem for apple.
i have a 14" ibook g4 does it affect my battery or no? My battery's serial number falls in the ones that they list as dangerous. OH NOES!!!
If I get them to send me a replacement, what happens if I don't send my other one back?
A new battery is on the way for my powerbook.
Your request will be processed shortly and a confirmation email will be sent to you.
Apple will ship you a replacement battery (or batteries) as soon as possible after processing your replacement order. Shipping time may vary due to product availability. Once you receive the replacement battery, please return the old battery to Apple with the pre-paid shipping label and packaging provided.
you mean, Apple can thank Sony for shitty batteries...
its just on the crappy PPC editions.. not the new macbook thank god.
my 12" pbook gets it's new battery in 4-6 weeks...
that seems like a long time for this "dangerous, burninating" battery replacement. mind you it's a 1gig book (2yrs old) and I have never recorded hot temps nor had any lap related fires. my old 12" ibook was another story though, it was discolored from the heat as were my quads.
meh, I guess a free new battery is a free new battery, I can wait
My battery is not affected... again...
It would've been nice to get a new one...
Seriously, can I just say it must've been lost in shipping?
I really want to do this since they've so far screwed me over on 2 rebates and a free ipod battery replacement which they didn't do.
no new battery for the 14"
I was thinking of doing this. Nothing is wrong with my current battery. I'll probally just end up sending it back since it doesn't hold more than a 2hr charge anymore but it would be nice to have a spare just incase..
damn i want a new battery, ill use the old as a spare!
After a year and a half, I have absolutely KILLED my iBook battery, it only holsd a 35 minute charge, and I was about to buy a new $135 battery at the apple store today...
BUT BECAUSE MY BATTERY CAN SPONTANEOUSLY(sp?) BLOW UP :|
I get a new one for free This is the bes tnews I've ever heard.
And I really don't wanna send back my old one anyways... I once ordered a box from Apple to fix my iPod and never sent anything back to them; I didn't hear anything... I doubt there is actally a law that makes t mandatory for us to send it back... so I'm probably keeping mine.
wonder if my g4 powerbook is affected
latest rev before the mactels
i doub't they would do anything if you recieved your new batt. and didn't sent the old one back. They are just going to trash them anyway. They are just asking for them back to cover themselves as much as possible. The less volitile batteries out there, the less likely one is going to blow, and they have to pay out when they get sued...
both my powerbook and my ibook batteries are on the list
