Recently I've been keeping up with Apple as much as possible because I'm gonna make the big switch soon. Here's some of the latest rumors that are expected for the upcoming Sept 12 event:

2nd Gen iPod Nanos in metallic cases & multiple colors (just like the iPod minis). Makes sense because of all the class action lawsuits on how easy the nanos scratch. Apparently will be offered in 6GB and 8GB.

Updated 5G iPods. No touchscreen iPod this season. These are simply bigger capacity iPods at 40GB and 80GB.

23" iMac. Possibly HD. Will run on Merom chips, just as the rest of the iMacs will from Sept 12 and on.

Merom-based MBPs. Slightly faster chips with same battery life as current chips.

Now onto the really cool stuff:

iTunes Movie Store. Apparently will offer new movies for $14.99 and older movies for $9.99. No word on whether its download-for-keeps, DVD-burnable, or limited viewing (aka expires after a certain amount of plays or time).

Airport Express + Video?!! :eek3: Since the iPod Touchscreen isn't coming out yet, apparently Steven will promote the Movie Store with an Airport Express that'll connect to your entertainment center. More info at AppleInsider.

Once again, these are just rumors that I've rounded up from many other sites. Take it for what its worth.

And you're getting this information from where?

It all sounds somewhat accurate minus the 5G iPod. They won't do that.

I've still got my fingers crossed for an iPhone. :x:

Just a lot of stuff I've read around the blogosphere. I've bookmarked everything under my Digg account: http://www.digg.com/users/melmyfinger/dugg/apple

The updated 5G iPod sounds reasonable because their hard drive provider (Samsung, I think?) released 40GB and 80GB hard drives that are the same physical size as the current iPod's 30GB and 60GB. Can't remember exactly where I read that from... but if I remember correctly, the 5G iPod hasn't been updated since it first came out last October; its about time for an update.

I haven't read anything concrete on the iPhone. Everything else is based on "insider info" from companies in the supply chain.

And won't the iPods come out after September 16 when the free Nano promotion ends...?

I have a hunch there's gonna be new Cinema Displays with iSight and remote sensor. Also, replace the 23" with a 24".

    24" iMac :wackit: look now!!1oneone

I'm going to buy an iPod this year sometime, probably a Nano because I'll probably never need a video feature on an mp3 player. If I really want to watch a movie, I always have my lovely 12" powerbook with me.

Well, if they are announcing something about the iTunes movies... it might make sense to announce new displays...:x:
