I was on YouTube and stumbled upon this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mriy75a7Yeg.

According to this guy, 30% of weight loss on low-carb diets is muscle loss. Whereas it seems low-carb, high-fat diets are the new fad on OT.

    What do you guys think?

it's retarded, sounds like he's referring to a keto diet anyways. Everyone on here says low carbs, like more than 50, which should be plenty enough for the body to function, then the rest are filled in with fats and protein

There are many versions of a low-carb diet. There are some diets where you don't eat any carb-rich foods ever. Period. Then there are other diets where you don't eat carb-rich foods for maybe about a two-week period, then you slowly start to introduce the foods back into your system (ex. permitted half a fruit a day or a small cup of fruit, one piece of toast a day, etc.). Also, some people choose to eat lean meats and lots of veggies on a low-carb diet, then there are others who eat all kinds of fatty meats and barely any vegetables.

So if someone says, "oh I went on a low-carb diet and <such and such> happened", you really have to get all the info before you jump to any conclusions.

No carbs = your body needs another energy source. That's why you use high fats.

does keeping your carbs low while on calorie restriction result in more fat loss?

i dont know if you can attribute it to that?

    lets take keto for example

the idea is that youre eating protein to preserve muscle, youre eating high fats as energy source...the rest is calories in <calories out

Low carb is not for everyone. After 2 weeks of palumbo I went from 315x10 incline to 315x5, ftl. Everythng got weak as shit.

2 weeks may not have been enough time for your body to transition. Have you ever gone that low before?

Like you said, it may not be for everybody.

Tough to use myself as an example since I generally eat low carb year round now....and I have used the sauce.

But in the beginning yes, I just had to cut back on the volume.
