so much buzz today about the new Aperture 3. I've read everything from "OMG, AWESOME!", to "Why doesn't it have _______?", and "Why can't I do _______ ?". I never used Aperture, but it seems that if its making this much of a buzz w/ the boys of photography, its worth looking at. I've never used it and don't really intend on getting it, I'm just curious what you guys think... if anyone has used it yet.

Now for LR3, I'm waiting for the final version to come out to get it. I like LR2 and I'm comfortable w/ using it. Whats everyones thoughts on the new version?

I am stuck on LR and don't really feel a need to change anything up. Kind of excited for LR3

    I'm thinking about using both.

Aperture for family and personal pics (faces would be a really nice feature)

    And lightroom for everything else.

I've only just learned how to use LR2 :o

I downloaded the Aperture 3 trial, but haven't installed it yet
Might give it a go and see what the fuss is about

Never been a fan of aperture

Been using LR3b for months, not one bug so far, but they haven't released the 7d RAW update, only for lr2 :wtc:

Aperture has THE BEST album making software built in. Hands down blows away anything and is worth it for that alone. Thats at least with Aperture2.0

Damn, LR has been a lifesaver for me. I know you can batch edit in PS, but LR makes it just that much easier...and non-destructive. ;)

I used to have Aperture before Lightroom and I liked it, but I liked the dual screen editing in LR so I switched when LR2 came out. I don't know what really changed in AP3 but LR has been great to me...

And for batch edits of basic adjustments, a lot faster than PS IMO. :o

first I have heard about it - will check it out. I used to love aperture before lr2, it had heaps of useful features and really great multimonitor + organisation. LR2 brought this + better adjustments etc and aperture seemed like it was going to be killed off ever since.

The only reason it interests me is because (apparently) people like Chase Jarvis, Joe McNally, Kevin Swan, and Mike Colon have been using it for months and giving apple feedback to "help" them design this product. :dunno:

Aperture really is a great product and I'm looking forward to use both of them.

Why have I not heard of LR3?? I upgraded to LR2 last year and love it. Why hasn't Adobe hounded me with emails announcing LR3??

    I just installed Aperture trial.

HOLY POOP! going thru thumbnail files is lightning fast... vs all the rendering that lightroom does.

I dont have much time to monkey with it as i am in class.. I'll probably end up buying both again.

Yeah I discovered that when I did a quick search. Seems to me like there may be a feature or two that I could use. Not sure if I'll upgrade when they release the official version. Depends on the cost I guess.

best is running smooth, but when I started with it, it wouldn't read from an old catalog yet, so I had to save the metadata to all the photos and reimport them all into the beta.
