    Hey,

I'm working on someone elses computer and I am having trouble sending mail through outlook while connected via dial-up with AOL. I've read quite a bit about certain ISPs blocking SMTP port 25 so you are forced to use their email while logged in and I *think* this is the case with AOL.

I've telneted to the mail server @ port 25 from a LAN connected computer and got in. The AOL computer gets a "Connection Refused" message.

I know the email settings are correct, since when the computer is connected via LAN it picks up and sends email no problem.

Does anyone know of a way to fix this? I've tried sending mail on port 1025 but I don't think our mail server allows that - although I could probably have that port added.

They have had this problem in the past and had it fixed and working but now everything has been reinstalled.

    Thanks.

I did try setting AOL as the smtp server if thats what you mean - I used mail.aol.com - didn't work for me. I know that the actual AOL mail works.
