I want to expand my range on my property and add more dirt so I can shoot at it from across my yard and down it.
Might build some permanent shooting rests and target holders

Post up pictures of personal ranges and some building plans up to inspire me

best advice I can give you: buy more property :big grin:

The only targets I have set up now are 18" steel gongs.
Don't know how much room you have to work with, but steel targets are usually worth the cost.

    Fuck
    I only have 5 acres
Big enough for a 100 yard range though I think

Around here they have to build berms for shooting ranges. Damn flat land/ Looks like the perfect place for a range. Mother nature provided your berm

i have some pretty good ranges at my lands. 50-300yds and everything in between. i just shoot into a hill or a creek bed and my neighbors are +15 miles away. i've built wooden frames with chicken fence in the middle and taped on targets, works good for me.

i dont have any good pics of the entire range but here are some general whoring pics

I made a target holder last fall out of 2x4's. Pretty sturdy and could duct tape pieces of cardboard to the stand and then tape targets to the cardboard so you didnt shoot the stand up.
Then my friends mowed it down with gunfire

Usually you're good to go if you're outside of city limits and not endangering your neighbors.

Its ok, it leads to some rather silly habits. Playing at 300yrds with a .17HMR, and a distaste for all public ranges and the weekend commando's that seem to populate them.

do you have to put a fence around the border of all that land?

or does it just meld into your neighbors' land?

    clear it?
    mow it?
    put some roads in it?

tennis courts, basketball courts, and a pool?

    bowling alley?

    big barn?

As long as you are outside the city limits, and are being smart about it (i.e. not shooting towards your neighbors house), you should be fine. Unless your particular county has some weird laws.

If that state of yours lets you leave for long enough, you're welcome to come up and shoot.
See what it's like to hit a target at 500+ yds with irons.
