As the thread title describes. Does anyone wonder or know how Hollywood movies get the awesome guns they use. Like the machine pistols, and FA stuff or silenced stuff. Hell where' do they get mini-guns and shit? Since they're not military they can't get new ones, but I see them with guns that are newer than the 1986 NFA ban. They're still under civilian law correct? Is there some special clause that they have to be modified for blanks only? Or is it some rich ass corporation that owns them all and rents them to movies? Anyone have any idea?

Wonder if i could be "Making my own movie" for the rest of my life to get some FA goodness.

I watched American Shooter many years ago and they were covering a store where they housed guns movie makers could rent. They had everything including a Mini-gun :)

Yeah, but how are they able to get things that only came out after the 1986 import ban?

Not all movie guns are props :big grin:

I've always wondered just how hot the "blanks" had to be to push a bullet out of the forcing cone and penetrate him enough to cause death.

I think alot of the newer post86 guns are props, some I guess are post samples rented from CIII dealers, other stuff is filmed out of the US, Eastern Europe seems to be a popular place to film for alot of the newer action movies, also alot of stuff is filmed in canada, like stargate where they had p90's before ps90, mp7's g36's although I dont know if any of those were actually real :dunno:

A blank itself can kill you, some actor shot himself in the head back in the 80's as a joke and died. I also saw a special on the making of Enemy at the Gates a while back, and the prop guy was showing the actors how the force of a blank can pretty much destroy a watermelon.

Yup, Jon-Erik Hexum, took a bunch of wadding to the head and died about a week. His family asked for funeral donations to be made to Handgun Control comically enough.

From a couple feet away I'm not sure the wadding would have been near as lethal, although I sure wouldn't fire a gun at my head to see. What amazes me is that there was enough pressure to propel the bullet deep enough to produce a wound that was lethal, especially that quickly. The placement had to be terrible luck.

    Speaking of handgun control

Omg its a triangle of death. The only thing worse is the circle of doom.

Yeah, it's better to blame the "gun" instead of coming to grips with the harsh reality that your son was an idiot.

Well come now, why blame the tool user, when we can just blame the tool.

Wrongful deaths would become almost non existant. You're son didn't have a wrongful death, he stuck a gun to his head and pulled the trigger. Exactly what was supposed to of happened did.

Blank-firing and non-working models are used alot..

Alot of times they'll build custom numbers too.

If you are a class 2 Manufacturer you can puchase post-86 FAs with a letter from your local PD or Sherriff requesting what type of weapon they want.

Yes, Alot of the static weapons used in Movies are props, but any that are firing are real.

you can plainly see in most movies they are either converted or replica blank guns, .50 DE's with a .22 sized barrel in them, they are obviously not a 100% real version.
