On Monday I ripped a callous (sp) off my hand while deadlifting. It's a bitch so I was considering getting some gloves. Anyone wear them/ any downside other than the fact they look kinda :greddy: ?

I don't wear gloves, but torn callouses are bound to happen esspecially on deadlift. If you're real worried about it, just wear gloves until the wound heals. Because it does look a little :greddy:

If you've never had all callouses rip off simultaneously you're not hardcore, your not animal.

I did that recently while doing clapping pullups... and continued my sets. I just wiped the blood off after.

Working without gloves helps your grip.

I was a firm believer in gloves, untill i signed up to do a "strength contest" and was told no gloves, no wraps. moving to gloveless i lost about 20-30lbs on my bench because my hands were not used to having the metal directy on them with out the padding of the gloves. took me about 2-3 training sessions and they got used to it.. now it feels un natural to lift with gloves. I will use wraps if im doing say eavy back, because i dont want my back to suffer because my fore arm is tired.

I can't imagine my hands without calluses. I think a man should have some calluses. And some scares.
