    For any reason?

I am thinking of taking in around 200-250g a day and the rest come from protein and fats. Am I being stupid? I seem to bloat a lot on higher carbs.

1g protein per lb bodyweight, divide the rest of the calories evenly between clean fats and complex carbs.

Uh, I was not looking for diet advice. I was asking if anyone else was watching their carb input.

i do. i eat most of my carbs towards the beginning of the day and eat more protein and healthy fats towards the end. The more carbs i eat, the more bloated and more water i retain.

Alright. At least I'm not nuts about the water and bloating thing. Carbs are the most delicious macronutrient though. :wtc:

Currently aiming at about 250g protein, 150g carbs, and 80g fats. This is about 2300 calories.
If I lose too much weight I'll increase my fats to 90 and then 100g.

Nope. I keep track in a daily notepad how much protein I'm getting. I want to get 150-170g a day and don't really care if I have to eat 4000 cals to get there. I'm retaining a lot of water but it's of little concern when you can lose it all within 2 weeks on a cutting cycle. Plus I feel so much better and stronger when I'm well hydrated.

:werd: as long as i got enough protein in the day and im w/in my maintenence cals (cutting phase) otherwise i find it really doesnt matter what else you eat as long as cals in<cals out, cept sodium makes me retain water so i avoid that somewhat. dont listen to that atkins bullshit, i hope that shit goes down like the titanic.

I watch mine. I'm cutting tho. So I tend to go high protein and low carbs. However I restock the carbs every 3 days normally wednesday and saturday too keep my body from thinking it's being starved.

Has worked pretty well so far.

    Such as? And how much?

For myself and like many I like to get a specific protein intake even when aiming for a certain calorie range. That gives me only the fats and carbs to manipulate then. And since I don't want to restrict myself to only lean protein sources since I like my bison and sirloin burgers, my musclemilk and my chicken breast with skin that means I have to limit my carbs somewhat to stay in the calorie range.

i may be wrong on some of this stuff...but it's just my opinion...

    1) more carbs = more insulin = more anabolism
    2) more carbs = higher glycogen stores/less likely to burn muscle as fuel
    3) when eating higher amounts of fat it's harder to control calories
    4) if you eat mainly complex carbs/fiber, you'll be more satiated

i just don't see what purpose lots of fat provides...once you get your EFA's and such, i'd much rather devote the rest of my calories to carbs for the reasons mentioned above :dunno:

if you're trying to cut fat, does it make sense to restrict your intake of dietary fat? It seems to me that if you were getting most of your calories from carbs instead of fats, your metabolism would natuarally shift from burning fats to burning carbs. As long as you are running a caloric deficit and getting enough protein to maintain muscle mass, you will lose weight. it just makes sense (to me, anyway) to stimulate fat metabolism pathways by getting a larger % of those remaining calories from clean fats instead of carbs. It'll make your body more prone to burning fats for energy, and easier to cut.

I guess eating fat to burn fat doesnt quite make sense, but I think it works from a biochemical standpoint.

    maybe i'm wrong? :dunno:
