The Hybrid is a great device when it works. I got mine during the macworld sale ($99) and it has a weird problem, but tech support has been pretty cool and I think they're going to send me another one.

    edit: I have a Hybrid, haven't used a 250.

I've got the eyetv hybrid hooked up to my apple 30" cinema display, its not an amazing picture, but its standard TV quality, not HD or anything. its great so i don't have to have a TV and a computer screen in my dorm, only 1 that does both ftw!

    Here's some screenshots/ pictures:

i'm kinda debating the idea of a mac mini w/ an eyetv for a media solution w/ my HDTV i recently purchased. something to record/rewind tv. few questions...

would the eyetv handle a HD signal? would this be an ideal route to go?

Incorrect. The Hybrid does OTA (Over-the-air) HDTV. It will not get HDTV from your cable provider, but you can hook up an antenna and get the HDTV that is OTA.

sweet, i have a $10 OTA antenna that works well. is the picture from the mac as good as if you just plugged the OTA into the tv directly?

It's digital, so I would imagine if you get the same signal quality you'd get the same picture quality.

There will be a bit of squeezing though if your monitor cannot support true 1080i or 720p though.

Place it near a window, and hook the cable to the EyeTV. That should do it.

does the cable go into the regular cable input, or the side AUX input.

in other words, will i be able to get both OTA HD channels and my regular cable at the same time, or will i have to switch back and forth :hsugh:

i think all u have to do is plug in the antenna, and the eyetv can wirelessly pick up the boosted signal. i guess i'll wait and see :eek3:

I have to hook the antenna up to the Hybrid.

Getting screenshot, going to keep it full quality, so it's 2meg.
