Kettlebells are cool though. I've only used them once. Doing to handle flips and old skool 1 arm presses. they are much harder to use then they look.

how are they substantially better than dumbells? they seem to be a more expensive alternative, but then i've never used them.

you dont use them like you use a dumbell. they are not something you really compare.

care to elaborate fuckstick?..... the exercises will feel differently of course, and might be harder....but this isnt some magical principle thats better than a db. besides, they are used usually for oly lifts which much of this forum doesnt concern themselves with

this about sums it up ....Nice option, but no better than dumbbells. Different, but not better. Sure, there are things you can do with KBs that you can't do or can't do well with DBs, but the reverse is also true. Mostly it's just something "new" and fun and adds variety and novelty. I won't say it's a gimmick, but some do use it in a "gimicky" way. I think some people try to convince buyers that KBs are the missing ingredient and will somehow work wonders that DBs won't. Yet no pro-bodybuilder ever uses them. Bad example, I know, but the point is there are a lot of great physiques and athletes out there that never use KBs. There's nothing magic about them and the novelty will wear off for most after a while. Yes, I'd like to have a set, but they wouldn't replace bars and DBs. Right now I don't see them being valuable enough to spend the money.

the guy on the main page doesn't even look that big. I think they were trying to make him look all rugged w/ the chest hair.

You've never even touched a kettlebell dumbass fucking twat. :slap:

Can you flip a dumbell. Most DBs dont have a curved 2 inch handle, leverage is completly different. Kettlebells ARE NOT used usually for olympic lifts either, which this forum does care about btw. You need to read more and post much less. :nono:

I think i've seen loadable kettlebells too. where you can dump lead shot in them. Same as Blobs.

That was the conclusion I came to the last time I did research on them. Sure, I'd love to have them, but not worth the money imo. then again I'm a poor college student, so not much is.

I use special modified plates with handles that act as kettle bells for some excercises...mostly for lots of oly style lifts with one hand and the like.
