Manager of my store wants to get rid of his. He's willing to let it go for $250. It's in decent shape (it's old, but works fine). It's been used A LOT (Belonged to a newspaper in another city), but apparently looks good considering the use.

I know its only 4MP, but I've heard of comparisons with D200 where the blown up D2H file looks almost identical to a D200 file, which I find hard to believe. Has anyone had any exposure to this? I shoot a lot of sports, sometimes without strobes, so the high FPS will really help.

Basically what I need to know is: Will the D2H's image quality lack? I'm only comparing it to my current setup (D50), so it's only 2MP difference. Are the D2H files really that expandable? If so, I only need it till about February when I'll get a D300 (Employees aren't allowed to buy it till February )

    Halp.

It's a kickass camera, especially for 250. Seems like a little low, even. It's not good if you crop alot, but for sports shooting it will be way better than a D50. Like, not even comparable. Good AF from what I hear.

Luckily (or not), right now, 90% of my files are just being shown at 640x480px on the website. And like I said, it only has to do till February

After the high FPS, the D2H's main allure is low light performance, from what I've read.

    uh huh.
we'll see what's up with the next little batch son.

I have faith they have something up their sleeves. I'll admit the d3 noise performance is pretty fucking amazing.

I was just responding to trolling with trolling.

We have some 6400 and 3200ISO prints from a D3 up in my store, they are unreal, son.

i dont think you can really go wrong with it for 250. get your d300 and send the d2h in for a service and you have a killer rugged backup.

well to an extent you have to. you're not just purchasing a camera body etc you're buying into a whole system. glass, flashes other accessories etc. if canon DOESN'T catch up then at what point do you take the loss and unload your canon gear in favor of the nikon stuff? can you justify keeping both? maybe.
