I currently have a vps so I can have a dedicated IP for my servers. I don't have a ton of traffic, but I needed the dedicated IP to help ensure our mailings were delivered to our user's inbox. I have heard that you can use google apps to do this now. I was thinking about downgrading to a shared account from hostmonster, then installing google apps for email. (most shared account's email servers are delivered to junk mail because of abuse).

    Has anyone done anything similar?

    I use it for mine.

It's fucking great and I will never go back to my old webmail.

    So much faster.

i use it for 2 personal businesses and set up 4 outside businesses to use it as well. No complaints at all. I am amazed they offer the service for free still.

Correct. I'm not sending out 1000's yet, but I may at some point. Its a small site with a few hundred users that has automatic email verification, as well as notificactions when something happens on the site specific to that user. I would like to prevent these emails from being blocked, or sent to spam. I thought my only option was a VPS with a dedicated IP, however if google apps can solve this problem for free, I will downgrade to a cheaper solution.

Do you think google apps will work for what I need?
