Im looking for some feedback on Barska scopes. I have a tasco 24X and its ok but at 24 its a lil grainy. I like the brightness and clarity of some of the upper end bushnells, does anyone know how these Barska's compare to Bushnells? Im very new to scopes, I've been more of a pistol guy. Thanks.

I have their big 6.5-20x50 Vermint model on both a 10/22 and a Nagant and both haven't had any problems yet. Even the recoil of the Nagant hasn't caused any issues.

Are you thinking red dot? This is a reflex..

I wanted something for both eye open shooting, without the 'tube' effect from red dots..

Barska is basically on the same level as tasco, you won't be really jumping up in quality :dunno:

I have that. In good light and up to about 16x it is pretty good. At 20x it is kinda getting:ugh: But hey, you cant expect that much from a $50 scope.

O rly? Hmmm ok thats something I need to consider then. Im looking at 32X scopes that I will put on my 17HMR for now and later on maybe move it to a .223 Tikka or Rem700 in .308

So maybe I should just not cheap out huh?

You get what you pay for. I wouldn't cheap out a whole lot on optics. The Barska is as accurate as the cylinder bore Mossberg it's on.. fwiw. Put something on that is as accurate as your shooter.

the Varmint lets me do tight little groups on my 22. Nothing more expensive or with a more familiar brand name is going to be any more accurate for me than what's on the 22 right now.

since you're planning to move up caliber near the future why dont you cover all your basis and get a decent x40 power scopes.get like a burris fullfield 2 and bushnell elite 3200 people agree they're best scope for under $300 price range you can find them on ebay for $150-$200.

Buying quality glass really isn't overkill for any rifle, especially when it comes with something with high magnification, I really wouldn't skimp in that area.

It's hard to even find anything in that power that isn't either $50 or $1500.

i don't see the purpose of it, especially on a .17HMR.

is he planning on shooting a gnat's cock off at 50yds?

seems like it'd be a pain in the ass just to get it on target.

why the fuck is it that the USMC can use a 10x out past 600yds but you can't shoot something maybe 1/4 the size at 1/3 the range with something with even just 40% more magnification?

its like using an electron microscope to read the paper.

Cause we're not all USMC trained snipers. :dunno:

I don't use my barska past 10x usually.

  22. They are junk period, stay away from them. If you want a great low end scope get a Bausch and Lomb Elite 3200 10x mildot, you cannot go wrong. They have the bushnell stamp on them but they are all B&L parts.

Curious, those claiming they are junk, why? Did you have one that went bad and if so, what went bad? What model were you using?
I hear alot of people say they are junk but to be blunt, not one of them has actually owned one so it would help to hear actual users that had issues with them explain what went wrong with theirs.

  24. I've seen the SWATS, the hunter series, they are chinese scopes that are built like shit, the parralax adjustment will always fuck up, Ive never seen one that lasted. Stick with good companies, even if you are on a budget you can find decent optics i.e, Super Sniper, Bushnell Elite series, Nikon Buckmaster, Monarch. Like the age old saying you get what you pay for, shitty scopes are made by shitty companies, like BSA, Tasco, Barska, if you want an optic that you can rely on stick with what is proven. If you want info on optics look on snipershide, snipercentral, places like that.
