For $125 you get the 500GB OWC Neptune FireWire External 7200RPM Oxford 934 SATA Based Solution with 16MB Buffer. Includes FireWire Cable, Intech HD SpeedTools Utility Suite, Prosoft Data Backup, and 1 Year OWC Solution Warranty...

But I haven't seen any reviews on speed - how long does it take to back everything up?

    This is what I have:

USB 2.0/FW400/FW800. I have it hooked up through the FW800 port and it's fast as tits. IIRC I transfered about 12Gb of data in about 8-10sec one time. It's a RAID setup with a 250Gb & 500Gb SATA drive w/16mb caches.

Like LaCie and Maxtor. :mamoru: OCW sells good stuff. It's got an Oxford chipset which is what ya want (not that bullshit proprietary one that LaCie uses and fucks everything up with). I'd go with it if it meets your needs.

Highest failure rate on the market. They keep data recovery companies in business.

Should it bother me that this product has practically no reviews out yet? I don't know anything about the company, other than that .Mac seems to like 'em and refer to them.
