It is an mpeg decoding plugin for winamp. I have tried it, and ironically it seems to make a difference on the mp3's that I have ripped. Unfortunatly, I cannot do an accurate test to see if it makes a difference. I suppose it could be another case of the placebo effect, I dont know. I am wondering if any of you with decent audio equipment have tried the plugin? If so, did you notice any differences?

    My observations:

    Optimized for trance-ish music.

My ears tell me it is boosting the bass and highs / attenuating the midrange.

    I don't like it.

Yeah, I would almost say the same thing. That doesnt make sense though, I would assume the thing would be optimised for decoding the mp3's to be the most accurate, not the most "good sounding". Perhaps it is time to go back to the default decoder? Do you know of any other decoders, one that is optimised for complete flat, neutral presentation? Thanks.

The only one I have tried other than default Winamp is MAD.

I have a feeling all plug in decoders will color the sound somehow. I imagine factory winamp will be the most natural sounding.
