Right now I'm paying $5 a month for 1 GB of web hosting for my online gallery. With the introduction of .Mac Web Gallery and the seamless integration between it and iPhoto 08, it's making me reconsidering my online gallery choice.

For an extra $40 a month, the extra 9 GB from a .Mac account and the integration with iPhoto makes it look like a no brainer. I could also use whatever extra storage I have for online backups which seems like a no bonus as well.

Anyone else in the same boat? :o

How was it before? And how is it now with the new features? Any comments would be greatly appreciated! Especially in reference to my situation.

    :)

EDIT - what are you syncing?

I just keep my bookmarks and other crap on my own sites FTP. I pay $15/yr for 2Gb of bandwidth which I almost never use up anyway. So I lose the convenence of a button that says "sync with .mac".

I'm not paying $100 for that button.

If i used iPhoto and had a lot of friends/family that i shared photos with I would likely purchase it. It seems much better now.

this is what I'm going to be doing.

I have a day left in my trial, so I'm installing ilife08 and trying to get this all working to see if it's worth it. :run:

10GB is now standard. I just renewed for another year. I like its simplicity and integration with the iApps.

I've been considering it once my dreamhost subscription expires in November. Yes, I only paid that $20 a year for dreamhost but when if you want to renew you can't use a coupon code. You have to pay full price which is around $100 or so which is the same price of .mac

I like the integration with the iPhone and how it ties everything together. I'll have to see though when the time comes.

    no edu discount FTL.

I like the instant gallery thing though, so I'm probably going to buy it.

I just wish there were more organization features... it doesn't integrate with iweb very well. You can't make an album page with links to the iphoto galleries, but you can make a blank page and add widget links.

For sharing photos though... I just use Facebook to share my pics with my friends. So I don't know having .Mac will be any beneficial. :dunno:

I have one, mostly for the IMAP email. Having every message you've ever sent/recieved on any internet computer is FTW.

Oh and publishing from iWeb is pimp too :wavey:

    I have one.

I use the syncing to sync Safari bookmarks, Address Book and iCal between my home Mac and my two office Macs.

Also handy on the occasion that I buy a song through iTunes, since transferring it over your iDisk makes it nice and tidy.

I also keep some files that I randomly need access to and I auto mount my iDisk from my work Macs and PC and my home Mac and PC's so I have access to the stuff on my iDisk at all times no matter which of the six machines I happen to be using at the time I need to access the stuff on my iDisk.

No iPhone yet, but I'm looking forward to being able to have one address book between all my Macs and my phone without having to jack with clunky syncing apps like those provided by Motorola and RIM.

The new web galleries are pretty cool. I only recently got around to uploading some stuff to post on Flickr, but I'll definitely make use of the new .mac galleries and I dig that I can just give my wife a hidden e-mail address to post her pictures to without giving her free reign to possibly mess up my galleries.

Did you mean to say 40 dollars a year or are there different levels of .mac now or something...?

    .Mac is $100 a year

    I'm paying $5 a month, so a year would be $60.

    $100 - $60 = $40

Yeah - that's what I thought - but you said "For an extra $40 a month" so I thought maybe I was missing something.

I bought one. 8 bucks a month for 10gb of picture and video storage? That let's me put more music on my phone, let's me share photos password protected, email and very good email at that, a simple way to back up my macs important files.... What else? So many features to list. I spend more then 8 dollars a day on redbull. Lol
