Where can I buy it locally? Ive been stocking up on the 550rd at Walmart but read that the #510 is really good.

The Bi-Marts have them here. All of my .22s love them, although I did get two duds during speed steel last weekend. Kind of unusual...

I prefer the Federal bulk over the other bulk packs since they're copper washed/plated bullets they tend to have a little less lead fouling, and are cleaner overall. They also feed a little better in a lot of my rifles then anything else i've tried. Never heard of #510.

#510 comes in a blue box and is 40gr. The bulk pack at Walmart is 36gr.

yea, I use the 36gr. federal copper plated hp's if i need something cheap. Otherwise I pay a little more for cci mini-mags.

i have some blazer 40gr just like that (lead) and I hate them. It makes the rifle signifigantly more dirty and a pita to clean. I'm sticking with copper-plated.

sportsmans warehouse sells the 525ct bulk-pack of them for $13.99

the mini-mags haven't given me any problems. It seems all the manufacturers recommen them by-name in their manuals.

    My 10/22 loves 510, that's my all-purpose plinking/target ammo. I buy it for like $20/500 at Dick's.

My 10/22 is picky, doesn't like the 550 federal bricks or the remmy gold bullet. The groups hold a light tighter with the 510 load plus I've never had a malfunction with it (vs 1 ever 5-6 with the federal bricks.)

I hate it... I don't have anything special for a .22 just a romanian m1969 bolt gun but consistently when I shoot this stuff I get 1-2 fail to fires per50. I've had better luck with the bulk packs.

I haven't had any FTF's with the federal coppers. Although I do notice my groups arn't as good as when I use the cci minimags.

There's a lot of things I don't like about Ruger, but it still holds a special place in my heart and I'm glad I bought it as my first gun.

But will I ever buy another Ruger? Probably not.

    i bet they were teflon-coated armor-piercing cop-killing hollow-points.

They are hollow points, but I don't think they're teflon coated. The container says >1400 FPS too, so that's cool.

What would be the best ammo to use with a Green Moutain Target barrel, the walmart bulk stuff wouldnt feed

After I swapped to a GM solid target barrel, it would only regularly feed CCI Standard Velocity for about the first 2500 rounds. Then it got to where I could go with CCI Mini Mag's for about 5000 rounds.

My biggest problem was feeding though. I had to switch away from the stock rotary magazines to a banana style to get it to feed at all. Only after I did that did I discover it didn't like the cheap bulk-pack ammo. It's starting to get where it will now almost feed a full 25 round magazine of Remington bulk pack though. It still hates the Federal bulk packs.
