I read the book... the guy who wrote it didn't seem to fond of his time in the marines.

Yea a lot of Marines hate this guy. Alot of the guys from his old platoon have spoken out against him and in not so many words calling him the biggest shitbag around, and they are glad he's out of their beloved Corps. Not only that but hearing Jamie Foxx say "oorah" like that with no feeling watsoever is funny as hell. Ive seen guys mouth oorah with more feeling.

    all american boy joins corps

all american boy goes through training montage a la full metal jacket

all american boy ends up in iraq and finds a hell hole that is both boring and dangerous

all american boy becomes jaded and returns home having been completely abused and sucked dry for his 4 years contract

all american boy's marine buddy dies somehow and all american boy goes to said funeral and reflects upon his commitment to god, country, and corps

the last part can be put into the first part if desired in post-edit

Casting call in Yuma a couple months back.... never did hear from 'em again =P But Jamie Foxx did stop by a couple of the workcenters for a bit, that was cool.

Read the book. Loved it. I woldn't exactly say he bad-mouthed the Marines. It's easy to typify him as a shitbird. There are parts of the book where it is easy to destest him, but he makes no excuses for his behavior. I think he just came away with his honest, mixed up feelings about everything he went through. He joined the Marines when he didn't have any guidance in his life and it really affected him. It was a great read - one man's experience in a time where our country was just starting war with Iraq.

A really good book i read not too long ago is "Generation Kill."l Now, that's an awesome book and gives a really true perspective on the first few weeks of the war in Iraq.

I read generation kill, too. That one was a much better look into an actual war where jarhead was less about war and more about how being in the marines affected one guy.

wow, you must have gotten an early screening.
I wanted to see this movie, but I read some feedback on the book and everyone who has read it says it's all about some guy who mixes his personal shit with the Corps and blames the Corps for it.. sounds like some of the shitbags I know of.
