I want to do it, but I'm scared that I'll look like an idiot. I'm too fat to do anything physical without looking like a tard.

IPSC is supposed to be the more "real world" courses. Not sure what you mean by dumb rules.

edit: doh, that's supposed to be IDPA.

They both have their share, but IDPA is, IIRC, regulated a bit more than IPSC.

Err and I'd try IDPA, not IPSC (from what I've read on them).

both are very fun to shoot i perfer IPSC for the fast pace shooting. But if your club is any good at all they will help you out and not make fun of you for any of the common rookie mistakes. We have a monthly match for both and a winter leauge for IPSC once a week for 3 months.

use what you have to see if you like it first, then you can step it up if all goes well. as long as you have a 9mm or larger and a few extra mags you will be fine. I use my carry rig for both IDPA and IPSC and I still out shoot a lot of the race gun guys.

I got an XD .40 subcompact was the reason I asked. I really want a Beretta 9mm but was also thinking of an xd service or tactical in 9mm also.

Yeah, there's some mathematics involved, like, the weight of your projectile divided by some shit times 1000. Major power factor is like, .357SIG, .45, .40, .357 Mag, .44 Mag, 10mm...I believe.

You can still compete with 9mm, you're just in a minor power factor, nothing wrong with that, when I shoot, that's what I'll be shooting.

The IDPA guys get so pissed at me for shooting some of there stuff like a IPSC match but some of the mag handling rules are hard to remember when I shoot mostly IPSC then switch over
