just a few shots from my past weekend, a class I'm taking in school gets sponsered to go up to Historic Routt County (Steamboat Springs, CO) and document historic ranches that need/want Historic Status.
Heres a few shots from the weekend,

cant decide if I like the post processing technique I used on these or not, the deep blew skies arent digitally improved, early in the morning every shot that includes the sky had a dark blue hue to it, as the day went it on you'll see it faded back to a light blue.

Nicely done, the 1st, 4th, 5th and 8th are great. I probaly would have backed off a bit on the 4th, and if you could have waited on the 8th till sunrise or sunset, which ever has the sun just slightly lower and having the sun rays come into the barn you'd have an easily sellable print,

Did you use a polarizer or any filters and a wide apperature? Several have some vignetting going on, though the third is the only one where it looks bad. The fifth actually helps frame it, though it seems a little too much. A very slight vignette is good to keep the eye pulled into the picture and away from going off the print

no polarizer on this day, accidently left in in the condo room.
I think the vignetting is caused by the post processing I used, the action script I was messing with does some stuff with it I believe.
I really wish I could've waited till sunset for that last picture. Unfortunately our entire class and my ride left at 4 and wouldnt wait around for anotehr 2 hours.

Did you shoot stopped down on a tripod ?

All the images feel a little blurry to me. The main subjects of attention seem to have no pop to contrast it from the background. It could be the after-effect of your postprocessing technique.

The colors look pretty good though

you hit the nail on the head - yes they are a bit blurry which was done on purpose - wanted a more surreal feel since every other shot I give to the teacher for documentation has to be sharp.

but i fail to understand the "no pop to contrast it from the background" especially for the white barns, how much more constrast is needed to differentiate the white from the brown/yellowish ground and blue sky?

:werd: Same thing here. The first pic looks a little out of focus.

all are in focus - its a byproduct of the post processing I did, the look was achieved on purpose, some like it, some dont.

Personally I feel it gives it a more surreal feel

    wow.... i love those...

What exactly did you do for post processing?

They're very surreal and almost painting like... it gives the farm a much warmer, inviting feel. I love it.

As far as post processing went I used a combindation of an action script found on this page
http://www.atncentral.com/download.htm called "gothic glow" - did a little bit a tweaking with the script to get the desired effect. Did the typical adjustment of curves as well.
Cant remember quite what else I did but thats the basics

OH and a side note a few pics may be published in the Steamboat newsaper for the work our class did up there for the historical preservation.

I really like how the colours are so saturated and image a little blurry. I think you achieved your intention of making these pictures look surreal very well.

I'd prefer to see the farm as it is.

the farm as it is was pretty boring and dull - i did what i did and the majority that see it like it.
The other 250 pics taken that day show the farm as it is, and those get put into historical preservation stuff

Post them then :p I prefer seeing things as they are, rather than having weird "surreal" things done to them. I suppose it's because there's nothing like that in the U.K.

Gwon, you know you want to post the clean picture :)

That is quite possibly the best sky I have ever seen. No joke. I just looked at that for about an hour.
