I really want to find a place to workout over summer that won't cost an arm/leg and will have squat racks etc so I was wondering if anyone knows any real gyms in GTA (preferably north of toronto) or at least a site/place to look for a gym of this type.

A few others I'm forgetting but you pay for one you have a membership to all.

Family fitness is somewhere in woodbridge I think.

There's the jewish community center on Bathurst and Finch. I tried it out like 22 years ago so... don't know how much its changed since. I was impressed back then...that was probably though only the second gym I tried (used to workout in the basement).
Also worked out at the York University Track where Ben Johnson was training at the time... that was only 20 years ago.;)

try the colleges or univeristies (if you went to one), they are pretty cheap for alumni members.

also, a few community centres have decent setups, but don't expect much.

Not cheap at UofT though.... $750 a year for the HartHouse gym and $600 a year for the AC gym for alumni :o

Time to enrol again part time. ;)

I used to work out at Hart House and in the basement of the SC where they had all the free weights. Even as a student you had to pay extra for the basement. Its where I saw this woman doing sets of 12 of wide g. pullups. Someone said she was apparently one of the proffessors.

I've never even been in the Hart House. It looks like a tool shed from the outside
