A&P Anyone into Geotagging?

    anyone? sounds somewhat fun to me, me being able to hook up my GPS to the camera and logging cords to pictures

    info on hooking gps up to cam?

    I want to do this on my 5D2, but have not had time to look into it.

    uh it varies

    you can use a iphone as well but u need to download a app, same with my garmin 705




    i just down know the heavy details

    -does it actually log the cords into the pictures?
    -can you auto load all the pics onto software like Google Earth

    still learning and researching

    In some cases you can add the coordinates to the metadata of digital images... if i remember correctly Ace3 was doing something like this, and i believe Xenon Supra has toyed with it as well.

    When you take a digital photo, the camera automatically stores the settings it was shot at, i.e. ISO, shutter speed, f/stop, as well as the make/model of the camera, and the focal length. Also called the Exif data, this information collectively is the Metadata, and is embeded in the electronic image. With Geomapping, there are some products available that can also embed the geographical coordinates along with the basic info.

    i have the sony gpscs1 ... use it all the time, but haven't tagged any of my pics in a while.

    I only do when I am traveling way out in the middle of nowhere. But I'm low tech and save a waypoint on my GPS then save it in the metadata later.
