Anyone in here still use Slackware?

    I havent in years. Want to know what somebody thinks about the latest release or can suggest anything better for standard desktop use.

    how much do you know about linux
    do you want something that just works
    custimizable
    tweakable
    etc
    etc

    All our undergrad lab machines at school run a (highly customized) Slackware. It's great for customizability, but if you don't need to heavily customize your Linux, and Slack isn't the distro you're most comfortable with, I don't really see a big reason to use it over any other distro :dunno:

    to be honest, I don't like it. If I want that much customization, I'll use gentoo or LFS.

    Otherwise, Ubuntu for basic workstation use, or perhaps CentOS.
