Do the packages go through customs in that country or is it all "customs free" for military mail and only handled by our own postal workers?

Are they our own workers or are they the country it's coming into's workers? Someone told me all military mail is handled by US soldiers only.

I'm asking because I've sent DVDs to Iraq and they get stolen. I'm curious if it's our own soldiers or if it's customs officials.

Don't be extremely specific when you fill out the customs form. A simple "gift" is all you really have to spell out, along with the value.

I've pulled detail in a CMR before, and stuff had already been through customs long before it got to us. :dunno:

DVDs. I mark them as gifts but they still get stolen. Maybe it's the shape of the box? I use those Priority Mail boxes that are about the same size as the DVD case. :dunno:

Say a package form Iraq to England, England customs check it. It’s the country the package is coming in to; customs from that country checks it.
    from my post master himself
so basically whatever country it hits they check, now sometimes shit takes a whlie to get through customs and somethings things are stolen but also you have a 3a or admin weenie in your squadron who ususally picks the mail up and they could of jacked shit too if they knew it was dvds or something

Send them in a different box. That will help greatly. Even better would be to take the DVD out and just mail it in a simple envelope. with cardboard to protect.
