two different friends of mine have one. Ive shot both.....
#1 uses it strictly for concealment. (to and from his business)
#2 is for his wife to carry in her purse.

Its not all that fun to shoot, but for pure concealment... its tiny! I cant see going to the range with it... but again for personal protection... both are happy with its abilities

Ruger is a stand up company. Did it have a recall? Sure. Did they handle it appropriatley? Yes, Ruger paid for shipping both ways, fixed the issue and had it back in my hands in under 1 week. I was given a free magazine for the "trouble"

    thanks for the feedback.

the recall doesn't worry me much, Ruger is a good company imo, fixing an issue is part of doing business, i'm sure Ruger isn't the only gun company that has had to do a recall to address an issue, although the fact that the recall was on the exact gun i'm looking at does give me a bit of pause,,,, DAMN IT, decision making with a new gun sucks.

and it would be for concealment only. probably would just spend enough range time to get used to the weapon in general but as far as putting a ton of rounds through it, probably not. i just want something ultra small that still has a bit of punch to it to conceal easily anywhere.

My SO's Mom has one and honestly....it fucking sucks to shoot. For me it was painful and uncomfortable. YMMV.

It's by no means a range gun. It's not a pleasent gun to shoot by any means. It's a BUG or a summer concealed carry. I can put it in my shorts or pants in the Nemesis holster and no one even knows it's there. It's extremely light, is accurate to about 15 yards. Only problem is finding .380 ammo that isn't $1/round.

I like it when I'm wearing shorts.

The Ruger forum fanboys tried to recreate the drop fire issue, but were unable to FWIW :dunno:

cabellas sells bulk .380 ammo for some practice rounds,
figure i'd buy some decent hollow points for personal defense and i'm ok with paying a premium for them since they'll just sit in the clip waiting in case they're needed and not fired at the range.

and it would be a back up to my usual concealment weapon for when i'm not wearing loose shirts etc that conceal the larger frame weapons, i just need a tiny gun that i can put pretty much anywhere and won't cost a fortune. I looked at a Kahr that was really nice but it was double the price and i figure for a gun that will barely see the shooting range and only carried when i can't wear baggy clothing i can live with a cheaper gun.

any suggestions other than this for the under $400 cost range and super small around 5" length 10 ounce range? i just need a tiny gun that has enough punch to get the job done (i don't feel comfortable with anything smaller than a 380) for those days i can't carry my full frame pistols

thanks, and may i just say i love this forum, i've learned a ton from you folks.

i went in a totally different direction today, picked up a S&W .38 instead. on sale for about the same amount as the .380 and well, with ammo availability + durability of the weapon (the .380 ruger felt cheap as fuck, i like Ruger but seriously, pick up 1 of those ruger LCP 380s and play with it a bit, it feels like it'll come apart in your hand) i decided to go with a J frame, still small about 15 ounces, short and easy easy easy to conceal. plus it was a good excuse to get my wife to let me buy another gun lol

Odd, keltec owners have been able to cause it to drop fire in tests and it is a clone of the p3at essentially.

You should try a PF-9 full of 147 grain Hornady TAP, that's what I have in mine.

I use winchester ranger 147gr, but equally as painful. About 5 mags of WWB 9mm is about all I want to do at a time at the range.
