I'm looking to roll it into my company's 401k plan as the TSP is so crappy.

    Is this possible?

My 401k is up 18% YTD and my TSP....it's a joke.

international one, i don't even know anymore as i can't log in ever since they changed my log in user id.

I just want all of my retirement account managed with Fidelity. My last year ROI was 17% and this year YTD is 18%. TSP is not anywhere close to it.

if it's the I (international fund)....then it's up 24.xx% as well in the last 12 months and 13.xx% on the year.

Also, the TSP has the lowest overhead cost of any plan you will find.

:werd: most people complaining about the TSP don't know much about finances.

On another note, I forgot my TSP password. :o

Are both the S and I funds a good pick for this year? I am looking at it and I still don't understand how much of a return I'm getting :(

S Fund is 9% YTD and I is 13% YTD.

I run the TSP (matching is coming in the future) and do additional crap with another company. No need to hate on the TSP.

You cannot - which isn't really a problem. You have two options, you can then convert it into a regular IRA with a company of your choice or you can let it continue to grow on its own. Either way, you would be fine.

I canceled my TSP a long time ago. They have around $350 that I contributed, but I can't touch it till I'm 65? Fuck that bullshit.

You can get it, you'll just be taxed on it is all.

Investing is a patience based virtue.

It's being talked about as an enlistment incentive.

How do I got about that? It seems impossible. Everyone I asked at work always said "You gotta wait till 65." :squint:

people at your work know as much as you do about TSP obviously. Like the oak leaf said, you'll be taxed but you can withdrawal your money.

I dont see how the military is going to match considering the AF being broke....granted I think we are changing some things around so we have money but shit with all the new uniforms (aka more dollars in my pocket) and what not

    would be nice though

waiting on my password, slept on teh TSP for a while

Unknown - I did put in my recent survey that the $25k-$35k bonus was crap as it only feeds instant gratification types. I recommended an initial signing bonus of 10% TSP matching for a 10 year contract vs the crap they have now. Initial thoughts is that it would cost $55k over 10 years (assuming a lieutenant chose this option) versus one time payment of $25k / $30k or $35k. AND some people would stop contributing at some point and/or some people wouldn't max the 10%. So you still get the full 10yr contract out of some.

What additional crap do you do? I'd like to know more about it in hopes of securing my retirement. :)
