I want a sub-compact 9mm and i narrowed it down to either a XD or Glock. I love the XD;s and the multiple safety's but I want the glock for the durability. Anyone shoot or have a Glock 26? Thoughts on the Glock 26 vs Springfield XD 9mm sub-compact? Should I get the Glock 19 to be more versatile?

I like my 26. Makes a great BUG and I can use my 17 mags in it.

That is exactly what I am looking for. I want this to be my main gun in my BOB and I know that with a Glock I don't have to worry about it getting dirty, banged up etc. This is the gun I am going to carry when I go camping and if the shit ever hits the fan I want to be able to conceal it. Reason I want a 9mm is ammo is abundant and can carry more of it than anything other caliber and still have stopping power unlike the .22

They are nice, I would definitely recommend getting one. You can buy mag body extensions so the grip is the same size as a 19 which is nice if it's a little to small for you.

I was also considering a 19. Reason against going with the 19 is for the size and concealment of the 26.

Yeah, I probably would as well. I really like my 19 but I think I would like it better if it was a 26 :hs:.

IMHO the 19 is the perfect size and the 26 is too small unless it's an ankle gun :dunno: Maybe you guys who say you like the 26 better can give explanations that are more in-depth?

I think it's the prefect sized gun for me but for CCW I think I'd like it a little smaller. I have a Gen 2 with no finger groves and a hogue grip so I adjusted it to fit just right for me. I really have no complaints about my 19. Maybe I just need a better holster or a single stack gun to fit me best :dunno: I'll have to try both out.

I just realized that the G29 (Sub 10mm) holds 10rds. So does the G26. I'd almost be tempted to go with the 29 > 26. But you're right, 9mm is easier to handle, cheaper, and much more plentiful. Maybe you should just get all three, 19, 26, and 29, just to be on the safe side. :)

    I couldn't swing all 3 but 2 maybe.... I had my eyes on the 26 so I think I am going to stick with it. I already have a 9mm s&w 915....

i've got a 27 and carry it daily over my sig p226 - although i prefer shooting the sig, i still haven't been able to find anything that comes close to the subcompact glock for concealability/amount of ammo

my 27 holds 11 rounds of .40 cal in the magazine and 1 in the chamber - my sig is over an inch taller and only holds 1 more round

for concealability, the staggered magazine is great - everything else i've looked at is significantly taller or holds almost half as many rounds (6 or 7...and i don't want a .380)

i'd say get it - i'm a fairly big guy (6'4" 225 lbs.) and my sig (and most other guns i've carried (all with good holsters - i've got a vm2 for the sig and wear a beltman.com belt)) get caught on shirts with any movement - i don't even have to shirt check with the glock when i get out of my car

and if you have big hands like me, go for a grip pinky extension - the pierce +1 isn't quite big enough for my hands and the slide will still cut me once in awhile, but the glock +2 extension has kept my hands safe for a few thousand rounds

before anyone says anything, i probably would have gone with a 45 or 10mm subcompact, but i got the 27 with night sights and a few other accessories for 200 :eek3:

Yea but it is the whole 30 day wait thing here in CA that sucks... I think I will get the 26 first and then the 19. I am going tomorrow so I will hold both and take my time before purchasing.

Yes, you can use G17 mags in a G19, or 17 mags in a 26.

I thought it was only a 10 day wait in Cali?

If i had to do it again, I would have bought a 19 instead of my 26. The grip length isn't really the problem, it's the thickness. Anyone in Michigan want to trade?

If I HAD to buy a Block, I'd get the 19 and have the grip cut down to 26 dimensions. Longer barrels never make any difference in concealment, only butts.
