what are your thoughts on it?

I find myself taking a lot of shots on the golf course, so the faster fps is obviously interesting to me. I like the larger size as well.

however, i'm not sure how 'smart' of an upgrade it is for someone who doesn't/isn't making $$ off of their pictures.

    any thoughts?

I've thought about it I think it will be worth it but I won't be upgrading any time soon :hs: The shots I've seen from the 40D handles noise pretty well even at 1600+ ISO, even 800 ISO on the xt/xti leaves a lot to be desired

I think if you hold out for a few more months, you will see another Canon Rebel being released that will have some 40D-like features, but for a cheaper price

more FPS won't make your shots any better. you just need better timing.

it's not very easy to "time" a shot on a golf swing with a measily 3fps

All it takes is one shot, not machine gun mode. 5 fps won't make you get the shot, you're just going by luck. Time it right and you'll need one shot instead of 40 just firing away. Watch any pro photographer and you'll hear usually one click. They don't to go home with 900 pictures that all look the same.
