-Took baby photos for a friend
-He put them on his facebook page
-He's had a bunch of comments on the photography (as well as the baby)
-~8 people so far have wanted my contact information so i can come take pics of their kid

I don't have a Facebook account, but I'm wondering if this wouldn't be a bad idea.

Thinking $200, 2 hours, their house, their props, I give them ~30 edited shots on disc.

13 of these sessions, and I can get my 5DmkII. :big grin:

I have gotten a few gigs of facebook.

Mainly sorority events and shit. It can't hurt.

Or put an ad on craigslist.

I took photos of my cousins kid and my sister, both of which are on my FB page, and now my sisters friend wants one of her kids. I also have a friend who wants me to take photos of his menu items for his restaurant.

I've gotten a couple of emails from people that posted my pics on their FB. I've done some baby pics, some headshots, and 2 simple/small weddings now.

I don't think I'm that great but hey, they wanna pay and they like it!

I've gotten mine through local auto sites (for car stuff, and the engagements were from that).

and then the wedding I actually picked up through moms work, they loved what I did with the car stuff and engagements and wanted to let me try my hand at a wedding.

They had far more compliments about ME, a learning 2nd shooter, then they did about their paid main photographer.

They are more excited to see my stuff then they are the other person because the other person apparently messed up their engagement stuff big time

those of you that have a facebook account, do you use it strictly for business, or is it for fun & business?

i'm just wondering if you get your friends posting on your page "that waitress last night had great tits!", and then some possible client comes and sees it. :o

i don't know a single thing about facebook.

I don't really use facebook that much. I may log on once a week. My ads however are on there all the time.

Yes. Pay per click ads. You can target the exact audience you want. For example, I target people who are engaged. I've booked at least one wedding this way.

never bothered with, but it's something that as the popularity is growing I might consider. My wife is on there and it just seems real myspacish to me. It seems you have to put a lot of effort into it:dunno:

I have a couple of ads floating out there in facebook land. The higher you pay per click, the more the rotate. You can also set your spending limit per day so it doesn't go nuts. I usually have mind at $25 a day since each click is set to (I think) 40-50 cents. :o

Because people list these things under their "interest" and "relationship" on their profiles. That's how you target your ads. When you create an ad, Facebook has you fill out all the types of people you want to target. It then will only display your ad on facebook sites where people have listed these things as interesting to them. This way, you don't waste your "pay per click" on those who you don't want to target.

so, i would list "pregnant, pregnancy, toddler, baby, etc" on my list of interested targets?

then, assuming that a pregnant chick puts on her page that she's actually pregnant or going to give birth, my shit will show up?

i assume i can limit this to a specific city as well?

    interesting.
