like what Pur said in timber's 1-armed bench thread, it probably requires a lot more muscle concentration on balance, why would you want to hold it over your head and then get lower to the ground... i can see it now, slip, weight starts to throw off balance, u fall, weight comes crashing down

No because I'm not an olympic lifter and my flexibility in that area sucks.

I used to do it... done 185lbs x3 going below parallel but need to unrack it from overhead already. Right now I won't bother trying to go heavier than what I can snatch.

I think I got it backwards though.... isn't it you shouldn't try to snatch more than you can oh squat?

I can't walk in flip flops without tripping. I dont think I'm gonna attempt to put a BB over my head and then squat

I'm a glutton for punishment and clicked...

I use overhead squats on my light day for a few weeks before I switch to something else. I usually just use a "snatch grip" push press but regardless of weight I usually can't do more than 8 reps as my shoulders just get too tired (holding the weight and the stretching). I worked up to 135 last time; I get a little nervous as the weight goes up because I've heard of people hurting their shoulders doing simple DB shoulder presses and I can feel the pressure on my shoulders when I'm down at the bottom of the squat.
