If so, how long did it take to pay the $99 and get verified so you could use your discount?

little under a week. The longest wait I had was when I ordered my powerbook. Only took a few days to get the membership, but took over two weeks for it to ship and arrive. It was torture.

you get an extra large discount on most products. you save the most with powerbooks.

the cost is $99 and you get extra development stuff sent to you in the mail every month.

yeah, its a yearly thing. however you only get one discount. so you can't wait another year and get another computer for uber cheap.

So is it worth it to sign up for this to buy a new computer even if I plan on doing nothing with the stuff they give me for being a "developer?"

If you save signifigantly (sp) more than the educational discount, then yes. And on top of getting a good deal, you can brag about your "connections" with apple.

All of the powerbooks should save ~100 bucks more than the student discount (after the $99 fee)
