I was wondering what the methodology is like? I assume it would be more like my experience with Linux?

Does OS X server have some sort of directory service (LDAP)? Roaming profiles?

The directory service is Open Directory. You can do roaming profiles if you want.

We're still getting it setup here, so I'll try and answer your questions as best as possible.

Do they have anything equivalent to group policies in Active Directory?

ARD is pretty damn nice. Lets you do just about everything except actualy put a disk in the drive if your not at the location. LDAP is there, there is actualy a nice tool included in the setup utilities for that, as well as many other functions or services that you might want to run. Best thing to do is just go and download the manual from Apples website, it gives a pretty good explanation of the system.

    Yep, in Open Directory.

About the only thing I don't like about it, I can't seem to be able to create sub groups. :hs:

    I'm hoping that changes with 10.5. :x:
