I know the scope and detail of the series is beyond the patience/interest of 99% of OTers, but I was wondering if anyone plays this series. I bought Wolves of the Pacific last year and have been playing it in my spare time. I'm only up to November 1944 :eek3:

I learned how to do "blind" and TDC-less torpedo firing solutions. Cool as shit not being able to see an enemy but can tell where he is, what heading he's bearing, and how fast he's moving and slam a couple torpedoes into him all using sonar and triangulation.

I always hated math, but plotting firing solutions using trig is satisfying as all hell. :coold:

I wonder if Ubi has plans to take the series out of WWII any time soon. I would LOVE to see a modern sub sim (Virginia class subs, anyone!?!? :eek5:) that uses a theoritical future war with like Russia or China.

Well, you could set it on easy and have all the work done for you automatically. But what's the fun in that?

I played I think the 2nd one way back when. Was alot of fun. I just don't have the patience any more for those kinda games. But Silent Hunter 2 and Falcon 4.0 used to be my main games for awhile.

Now the most in depth games I do is Gal Civ 2 and Mount & Blade

    Thats what Steam is for.

$10. You play it for an afternoon you get your $$ worth. At least that is my thinking.

I will prob think about getting it because of this thread. This weekend though I will be all over this:

Had the first one but that has all the expansions. Will enjoy doing some dog fighting

SH4 is cool but I like the u-boat perspective of the previous ones better. when I'm in a US sub I'm just like yeah I'm cool we are gonna rape japan no matter what I do. When I'm a u-boat I'm like oh shit the reich is crumbling its up to me to save it. A "cold war goes hot" scenario could definitely be awesome.

I always liked the silent hunter games. never played them like "professionally" but i love sinking shit, and then back in the day they had some sub game you could launch tommahawks from that was rad.

Fun games, just takes time to get into.

I play them. SHI is probably one of my favorite games of all time. I like 4, but I don't play it all that much.

SHV is apparently on the drawing board right now.

I read about it. Ubi hasn't said what genre it is, but I imagine they're going to stick with WWII.
