Where did you get your cert?
How long did it take, and is it accredited?
use the interweb, get an ACE.
talk to neo22
Took 3 or 4 months doing it on the side.
That is the one I received the most info on, and it seemed to be a good fit. Do you like it, is the course easy to follow. I understand ity is supposed to be easy, then everyone would do it. But, is the material user friendly?
Thanks, I'll do that!
how's the job market these days on personal trainers?
The most current research I have found that the low end is $35.00hr, upper $150.00hr. That is a pretty good market. I have friends that train for $80.00hr, others at $60.00...
I trained for 5 years. Until i realized listening to weak minded people whine all day about how fat they are, but were completely unwilling to make and honest effort to get into shape, made me a miserable person and it takes a alot of time to make descent money
Where are you located or where were you training?
In Florida, worked for a small health club chain as well as a mid sized privately owned club.
how good is the NSCA cert, seems like the most prestigious since you need a degree
you dont need a degree for NSCA CPT cert. just their CSCS cert
NSCA CPT is a good cert.
I assume you were paid by the club, and had to split your rate with them?
correct i was an employee of the clubs.
I'm getting an ACE cert. this summer....
school gym....they find you clients....
and I'm considering cutting for that reason....and to make sub-230 at a strongman contest in July....
yea....I'm talking to a buddy who did it last year (GA's Strongest Man)....if I decide to do it I'll start doing events and shit in the next week or two....
feel free to post suggestions in my log...
I posted the details in my log.....I hit 225x1 push press the other day....not great but I'm making progress...
In common place market, statics show that a CFT can earn from $35 - $150.00 a session. I understand that most places charge a $15.00 - 420.00 fee, but as an Independenr Fitness Trainer these are common rates charged.
I know some personal trainers that like their job and make decent money so I wouldnt' call it a shit career. Maybe it would be a shit career for you but some others might like it.
If you're in demand and can actually get results.
What seperates you from the thousands of other morons who got a joke certification? The whole industry is a crock of shit.
It's easy, just time consuming. I didn't learn anything from it if that's where you're going, just needed it to work at the gym.
the school gym is paying for mine....otherwise I wouldn't be wasting my time with an ACE cert...
OH No...I understand your point of view. Here in New Orleans it as if there is a major need for Fitness Professionals, as for a career...No! I am and exec, and am only doing this as a personal goal, as well as to assit in my HSE Department.
