Trueno is a model of Corolla coupe. There have been many generations of Trueno from the early 70's up almost through present day. Each one has been accompanied by a Levin model with identical mechanicals and a slightly different appearance. One generation of Japanese Trueno was from 1983 through 1987. The next generation went 1988 through 1991.

I like the pre-1987 RWD models, but my criteria for "best" may not be in line with the criteria of the general public. I am the wrong person to ask about value also....I bought mine for $500, have sunk thousands into upgrading it, plan on spending thousands more, and am still totally satisfied. :dunno:

True. I use 'coupe' to mean other than sedan and wagon. Toyota has frequently subdivided Corolla coupe into "2-door Corolla coupe" and "Liftback Corolla coupe" to distinguish the two body styles. The Trueno of the second, third, and fourth generation came as a coupe only. Hatches (or liftbacks) were introduced later.

trueno's are fucking insane, drift machine++. It might even gain value if you take care of it, they're becoming sorta collectors pieces. Get one with a 4AGE if you can find one

    DRIFT!!!!!

and worth a packet of money in Japan ATM mainly cause of intial D and a retro craze in japan..

the AE86 is a real good project car and if maintained well will be a collectors item in the future..

    86'sa out drifoto 32?

the hachi roku (trueno AE86) is arguably the best drift car in the world. its not the most powerful, but if you drive one, you will find its very predictable, forgiving, and EASY to handle and easy to correct if you f*ck up ;)

p.s. dont buy an AE85...everyone will laugh at you, except for Fujiwara Takumi, hell just out drift some s13/14's with your underpowered piece of crap ;)

    exactly my point.

if you dont know much about cars, an AE86 is definately not for you.

if you dont like Civics, how about a nice Accord?
