Really? That's really surprising. If anything I thought it would be the opposite. I know this isn't really anything to go on, but that countdown show before his fight with Royce made it seem like he trains pretty hard. You kind of have to in order to be where he is. Seems like MFS in general is all about hard work. I hope he's training like crazy. You would think he learned from his first fight with Penn.

I find it hard to believe that he wouldn't be training his ass off. Sounds like speculation turning to "facts" haha. Especially if he does it for the money he would be training his ass off cause if he loses his income goes down.
Penn and GSP are just too good to not train like a maniac for.

I've heard this (3 days to a week) on numerous occasions. It came up when he was a coach on TUF.

He might take fights lightly or not train as hard because he's so good, but I think anyone in that business is extremely passionate about what they do. When you devote your entire life to it, you have to be even if you're "just doing it for the money"

Edit: It may very well be the case that he only takes a week or so to train, but I just that I'd share something about a buddy of mine. Real good wrestler and has real solid muay thai. Not only that but he's insanely strong, has really explosive speed, and never gets tired. The thing is if you didn't know him well, you'd think all he did was train twice a week and the rest of the time was always out drinking and eating quesadillas. He plays it up that way too, says hes really lazy and such. It always confused me until I was walking back to my dorm from a friends house at 6am and I saw him out running about 3 miles away from where he lives. Turns out he's always at my muay thai gym too he just goes to a later session. I'm not saying this is the case with Hughes, but I guess I'm just saying everything isn't always the way it seems.

I'm sure he stays in great shape even if he's not training. He claims to have the stamina to go 3 rounds anytime. I could never train just 4 weeks prior. If I'm inactive for a month my cardio goes to shit.

I have a friend who knows a guy in his training camp and he said that hughes hasn't been coming in alot ever since the baby. So that part is true, but maybe he is training at home and not at their training center?
