firefox has been getting slower and less responsive every day for me.
i'm using 3.5B4 on a new Macbook Pro with 4GB of ram.
Safari, on the other hand, is fast.
with barely any add-ons enabled. it snaps up a bit when i clear cookies/cache/etc, but it bogs down again very quickly.

i don't want to make a new profile, if i can avoid it, since you lose all your settings and apparently have to re-download add-ons.

    what can i try?

(for example, i typed that entire last sentence with the cursor not moving at all, then all the words appeared at once.)

Why was FireFox so fast, well because everyone used IE for the longest time. Google works fast and Opera works as well. If you install either of these, you'll have the opportunity to import all of your data from FireFox to the new browser (this includes passwords etc).

there are a lot of extensions that i don't want to lose. Unlinker, Adblock, etc.

point is - it's fast when it's new. there's gotta be a way to routinely clean it up.

Have you tried disabling the extensions you don't use very often? I've noticed having a lot of extensions running at once bogs it down too.

Honestly, if I were on a mac I'd just use Safari. Safari 4/new version of webkit is FTW and Chrome isn't an option for you.
