I bought one for hiking. Good picture quality, lightweight, but tiny. Thinking about getting a 5D II when it comes out.

I have the battery grip, which I use about half the time. It's not flimsy/poorly put together in the first place.

I have one as well, and like it a lot.

I've used it for mostly concert photography so far, looking to do some sports next semester

If you bought an XSI for $750 when you could have a 40D for $950 or a 30D for less, may god have mercy on your soul.

I wanted something lighter, didn't need the extra features of the 40d. The only thing I miss from my 10d is the wheel. I ended up paying $690 for it new anyways. If a new 5dII comes out that tempts me, I might put up with carrying the extra weight, but right now the difference in size and weight in the pack is a nice savings.

Why buy something larger with features I don't need and it doesn't suit my purpose any better? If it makes your e-penis bigger to get a 40d over an xsi, go for it. But, the 40d would be a worse camera for what I use it for.

When I took my 10d to peru to go mountaineering it sucked hauling that thing up the side of the mountain. Next year when I go to bolivia, I'm certainly not bringing a 50d/5d mkII because the other option is leaving it in the tent and taking my g9. I shoot landscapes, not motorsports. I don't need 6fps when taking a summit shot at dawn.

who honestly buys a DSLR for compactibility? what's the 40D weigh, like a couple ounces more?

    I just don't get why you wouldn't justify another $100 for a 40D

Twice the weight almost. I bought the XSI first, before I even really considered buying the 40D. The XSI features are pretty much exactly the same, and the big advantage is that it doesn't feel like I am running around with a giant brick.

So, for $200-$300 less then a 40D, my wife and I have been pretty happy with our XSI.

you come in here asking what ppl think about the xsi and when someone gives you their opinion and you dont like it you get all gay about it.

To everyone whos says the weight is an issue and the reason they got an XSI... Why not just get a G9?

So... You're going for portability and if you really need to be that mobile you wont be taking extra lenses to switch out anyway...
