Anytime I attempt an upgrade, after it reboots I get the "NTLDR is Missing" error, and it won't let me continue. A quick reboot with a boot disk will fix it and get me back into ME, but that's about all I can do.

Is there any trick to upgrading this? I really don't want to do a clean install for many reasons, but the main reason is because I can't deal with my system down for half a day, plus I have no media to backup over 10gig's of documents. :(

Last time I got an NTLDR is Missing error (when I deleted ntldr, not knowing what it was) I just booted into Linux and copied ntldr off the install CD onto the C:\ drive. So, if you were to boot Knoppix or something and mount up your windows drive and the install CD, you might be able to do the same thing.

Also - it is NOT a .txt file, it has no extension. IE will try tagging an extension to it.

Not having the file is not the issue..the issue is whether or not there is a trick in upgrading ME to 2000 without doing a full format/install... and doing so without giving me this bloody error message.

    1) Go to Best Buy and buy 100 Gig drive
    2) Clone existing drive onto new drive
    3) Install clean on old drive
    4) Copy docs onto old drive
    5) Return new drive to Best Buy after low level format at your convenience
    6) ??????
    7) Profit

I upgraded ME to 2000 before without problems - sorry I guess that doesn't help you much but at least you know that it can be done :hs:
