i'm thinking of getting it soon.

One thing i wanted to do was buy a new HD (3 total) to back up everything then nuke the main drive and start fresh.

    Is that over board? :o

None. That in addition to my solid state hard drive and maxed out RAM mean a ridiculous computer. My 2.2ghz dual core is probably faster than the fastest off the shelf new mac you can buy and mine is a 2007. If you're doing snow leopard you should just go big and do solid state at the same time. The 64gb drives (what I have) really aren't that expensive (they are expensive per gb but not total price).

No issues here so far but I haven't done anything crazy with it yet.

I just did a clean install and haven't really ran into any problems other than a few quirks with Quicksilver

froze finder again dragging a gif from finder to a safari window.

upside is that when you relaunch finder, it opens the windows back up for you :coold:

Finder is beach balling on me when I browse through wmv files and Flip4Mac doesnt seem to be quite up to snuff with QT yet as I keep getting errors when trying to play wmv files.

Four-finger expose gestures are a bit finicky, if i swipe up to show the desktop and leave my fingers on the trackpad and try to swipe down to show my windows again they come down but bounce back up :dunno: didn't do that with leopard

I get the same errors with Flip4Mac. If you open the files with QT Player instead of double-clicking on the file, it should work that way.

I've got the player able to play them, the larger issue is the beach balling in Finder or even in an "open file" window when clicking on wmv files.

Seriously, every time I click on a wmv file its at least 30 seconds to a minute of beach ball before I can do anything.

Doesnt do it with any other movie, picture or audio files, just wmv and both my Pro and MBP are doing it. Its like its trying to render the entire movie so it can show it in the preview window or something. The hdd just spins continually while its balling like its trying to load a file or something.

If I'm going down a list of files with the down arrow, it goes through them all just fine, till it hits a wmv then just locks up and starts to ball on me. Makes using finder next to impossible when wmv files are present.

I just tested stomper.wmv and it worked fine if I double click it, opens right up in the new quicktime and plays

sounds like im going to hold off updating.

not going to a solid state drive. i think they're expensive as hell for large capacity.

Awesome. That did it for me. I did not know of it, installed it just now and now Finder works just as it should. Thanks for the help.

Are you solid state? Do you have snow leopard? Have you maxed out your 2.2ghz machines RAM? If no to any of those then you are slower than my SSD, 2.2GHZ, 4GB RAM, Snow Leopard Mac Book Pro. I am not trying to be "cool" but remember that my hard drive is just a big camera flash drive. The computer is unreal fast with it and I really dont know why everyone thinks they "crash." I bought a kingston but they are all fine. Its just that the Kingston 64 gb is the cheapest one possible and I only use about 30 gb anyway.

No problems so far here, this seems like the most stable point-zero release in recent memory. :x:

That means you'll get a SSD and you could even end up loving it like I love mine!
