I don't have many more rifles on my "want list". Well...I do, but they are things like an Accuracy International .338, a 700 Tactical, and other things of the sort. I'm thinkin' possible "ban weapons" here, and the SOCOM II would probably make the list.

I'm just wondering about satisfaction here. The thing looks cool, and it (or the platform anyway) has a history about itself.

Does anyone here have this rifle? Are you able to offer any insight?

    this.

The Socom 16 was a neat idea (though apparently the stocks tended to crack), but the Socom II is just fucking tacticool bullshit.

I have the regular Socom and it's already heavy as hell, I wouldn't want to lug that thing around with a loaded 20round mag

    don't get the socom

if you're gona spend the money on an m1a at least get the longer barreled version :sad2:

  8. That thing is horrid. It starts out at 10.5# by the time you add an optic and a mount, like in the picture, you'll be pushing 12#. Add in some ammo and it'll be quite a workout to lug that thing around.

I think the Scout Squad rifle is sweet. Only 9#.

A friend of mine has one. I thought it was a cool gun, but WAY too heavy to be enjoyable.

More than your average number of reliability lemons on that tree. They can be good, but if you get it, make sure you wring it out to see what you got.

i remember handling one of those at a local shop and i remember it being heavy as hell. Its very front heavy with those rails and 20 rounds of .308 won't help the situation

I've heard some horror stories about new M1A's having quality issues requiring multiple trips back to Springfield.
