Is the folding stock a pain in the ass and not feel as good as a wood stock? I have never shot a gun with a folding stock but it certainly doesn't look as comfortable :mamoru:

I don't have one, but I've shot both versions, and yes, the folding stock makes it difficult to get a good cheek weld.
It does have that cool factor the fixed stock doesn't have, though.

Not as comfortable but you can easily switch between the Tantal's folding stock and a fixed stock.

I don't know how you could possibly get a cheek weld

I'd like to keep things as stock as possible.

I'm still researching on what I want to get and waiting for prices to drop a little more. Plus with all the retarded CA gun laws it's just best for me to find a preowned CA one and buy rather than shipping one here :hsd:

Unless you weld on the muzzle brake, the Tantal's overall length will be too short to be legal in CA with the stock folded.

I'd rather get something better than a wasr. Although I have never shot one, the general consensus on calguns is that they arn't that great.

True, but I'd be more interested in the WASR-2 but it still looks just like the WASR-10 which is meh to me.

I had a WASR-2 and I can vouch that it was a great gun. Went through 1000+ rounds without a hic-up. I did the conversion myself so everything was clean and tight. The only issue is canted FSB and that's a 5 minute fix. Pretty accurate to boot, shot about 2 MOA with irons at 50 and I'm not that great with irons.

Yeah, most WASR's come with unfinished furniture. I dyed mine and put a nice glossy coat on it. I never bothered to refinish the receiver/barrel but it would be easy to achieve the pictured finish with duracoat. I actually used steel wool on my receiver to make it look nice and worn in, I actually like that look better for a military rifle.

:werd: my ar is my beauty rifle. my ak is my beat to hell gun. it gives it more of a true look from its heritage of being built in caves. i refinished my wood but didnt sand between coats b/c i wanted it to be a rough around the edges look

Hmm says the tantal folded is about half an inch shy of 30 inches. Guess I can just get a larger flash hider to make it to the magical number. How do you like your tantal Mace Windu? Pics? How does it compare to a full stock ak74? (if you have shot one that is)

i shot keesh's tantal up in the woods in OR. not as comfortable as a fixed stock but its not terrible since the -74 brake is so fucking effective. all the recoil (the little that there is) goes straight back into your shoulder.

FYI, if you want a tantal style stock in CA you're shit out of luck unless you've already registered it prior to 12/31/1999. the law states that the minimum overall length of the rifle must be longer than 30 inches, and its measured in its shortest configuration. i had keesh measure his with the stock folded and its like 29" flat or something (and thats WITH OUT the muzzle device being permanently attached - which it would have to if you want it to count as length on the rifle).

your solution? do what im doing:

tantal kit being built with a fixed stock (just dont make the mistake on getting aftermarket hand guards since the -74 tantals are proprietary :hs: )

I thought the overall folded length was like 29.4 inches, can someone not just add a flash hider that is .6 inches longer and have it be CA legal?

monster grip is the gayest thing ever, I would rather not have a gun if that was the only thing you can have

if it were permenantly attached to the barrel yes, but i dont see why you would want to do that.

your choice. i have bullet buttons on my 3 ARs, but for AKs i think its much easier to use a MMG.

I would permanently attach it to make the gun CA legal.

Not to be rude, but it is just my opinion that I think monsterman grips looks retarded as fuck and I would never bastardize a fire arm I have when there are other ways around the laws like with bullet buttons.
