Looks pretty good, decent price too.
i think tl1000squid has one he uses for carry...
i suck at remembering who has what tho, so i could be wrong...
i was wrong...
thunderbear has one...
Thunderbear has an M40A1
i have a m40a1 and m40 i love them both.
Who is this threadstarter and why the hell is he on my ignore list?
I have an M40A1.
oh shit another Steyroid sighting
Somebody quote him so I can take him off.
Fucking pansy. Anyways how do you like it? Accurate? Best gun you have ever owned? I was thinking about an XD, but this came up and isnt much more. So how do you like it?
i have an S9
how is it?
actually i like the feel of the m40 mucho better than the xd40.
I read up on the Steyr M* quite a bit and it seemed like a lot of people were experiencing failure to go into battery. Any owner here experiencing that? Maybe it is something they addressed with the "A1" series.
They are definitely sexy and reasonably priced, but the other thing keeps me hesistant is the limited selection of holsters, tweak parts, etc...
I don't think too many of them were failing to go into battery.. most of them had extraction problems. Both have been resolved as far as I've noticed.. 300+ rounds without a problem.
And if you ever handle an XD and an MA1 side by side, you will find they're not quite in the same league.
Accuracy is great, trap sights take getting used to, but the front sight is butter.
Does Steyr make any .45's or they all 9's and 40's?
9X19, .40S&W and .357Sig I believe.
i carry my m40. and like it better than a friends xd9
Steyr. I narrowed my carry search down to .40s, XD, Glock, USP, and Walther. I had my eye on an XD40 subcompact, when I came across the Steyr. I had to have one ordered for me since no one had one or had even heard of it. I picked it up and compared it with an XD and haven't looked back since. I can now safely say that there will probably never be an XD I want.
Ninja edit: The SA1s are going to be sex:
They need to make a .45, if I could find a nice .45 with a capacity comparable to the G21 I'de be a happy camper, heard walther might be making .357 sig P99's why the fuck cann't they do .45acp
For any European armsmaker, .45 needs to be a priority for the American market, unfortunately many of them don't realize this. At one point, there was a rumor of S small series, M medium series, and finally, L large series .45s that were purported to use 1911 magazines.
Steyr's had issues with importers, and the American segment doesn't seem to be a market priority with them at times, but the quality of product they put out is incredible.
Gun is hard enough to find online; how the hell am i gonna find it to test it out.
Glock and Sig are the only ones that seems to come through with various calibers. I'm working on a deal to buy a used 9mm P99QA, if I get it I'm selling my G17, I'll have 9mm and .40 P99's but still stuck with glock for .45
Likely, if you find it, you'll find the older M series. CDNN was selling 1st gen Ms for 299 new in box, so a lot of them filtered out into the public and should be finding their way into gun shops and pawn shops regularly.
The MA1s are still just getting under way with Steyr Arms' new importer, so it's going to be damn hard to find it. I bit the bullet and was the first person to order one from my shop. Got it for less than I had expected and I couldn't be happier with it.
Best thing to do is try to call around local firearms shops and see if they have one or try the pawn shops to get a feel for the older M.
I'm not sure I understand, unless it's that you want the quality of either of those, chambered in .45. That I understand.
I will be buying a .45 soon and it'll be a Rock Island Armory officer's model.
I want a quality .45 with decent capacity, already have a G21 I am happy with it, probably be a USP in my future, I may end up going with another .45 glock in the future just a compact one still debating on that, I like 1911's but dont want one as a carry weapon.
i like it, its my main conceal carry gun at the moment. recoil is pretty light for a 9mm and the sights are pretty neat. they tend to throw brass in your face a bit tho, might just need to break it in a bit more.
