Looks cool. Easy access if you need it, but still locked up.

The only question I have is whether or not it would be considered a "concealed weapon"

yeah, i was wondering about that too. Reading over VA's laws concerning concealed weapons says that a weapon in a locked glovebox is not considered readily accessible to the driver and therefore not illegal - so I'd think that this would fall under that.

I mainly need a secure place to put the gun when I'm on base since Federal law says that I can't carry on base - but I can transport which is what this would end up being.

I use a PacSafe "TravelSafe 100" bag. I like it because it rolls up small when I'm not using it, and it easy to toss in my laptop bag or wherever. We use it at hotels too keep our "valuables" in when we're not in the room.

That'll depend on the state, some don't consider it a concealed weapon if it isn't readily accessible. Though that is vague, I've been told its not readily accessible if it takes more than two movements to get it, like in the glove box reach across car (1) open glove box (2) grab gun (3) at least for FL. But then in Maine I'm pretty sure that is clear you can't have a loaded handgun in the car period unless you have a concealed (I could be wrong)

At least to me the value of the vault is being able to leave the gun well secured in the car, when you have to disarm to go to a certain location, post office or school grounds.

yeah, and this is primarily why i want it. I'll keep poking through the VA laws and see if I can find anything else - maybe I'll call up the sheriff's office and see if i can get a deputy clear it up too.

You expect a LEO to actually know anything about firearms laws? :mamoru:

They don't make them for my truck, otherwise I'd probably buy one.

There's another company that uses a Simplex lock on theirs. I'd prefer that to a key personally.
