Anyone have a 440 for sale

    Cast crank or Steel Crank engine?

    what year date code? (if you care, 68-71's = ~1K for short block needing rebuilt)

    i dont know the date codes but i would like to rebuild one carb to pan if you have heads and stuff that would be better

    Carb to Pan 6 pack engines are around 2500, I know a guy that sells lots of them, I will ask him if he has any, I'll talk to him in the next few days

    a 440 is a 440, the only difference between the early/late models was Cast/steel cranks, Heads, rods, pistons..basically, they are the same block...different evertyhing else.

    3.75 stroke x 4.32 bore
     
  9. Later 440s (I think after 75) used a thinwall casting and the iron itself was weaker.

    Iron is iron the thin wall makes it weaker :slap:
     
  11. I made a mistake I just looked it up it was 1976 when the thinwall castings were put to use they can't be overbored more than .020 and the iron is weaker up to about 10% weaker.
