I tried it for real the first time yesterday.
It's hard. I suck. It was 90+ degrees and I was sweaty. it took about 10 holes before i started being able to hit the ball consistently.

thanks to a coworker who wanted to point out my bad form, here is me.

friends got me a golf club set for my bday. i've played over the years on a driving range, and often putt or drive for shots - makes it all the more interesting. i'm still not very good driving, as it tends to veer to the right. whatever, it's pretty fun smashing a ball.

Yeah, I have a pretty bad slice also. Even on a par 5 I tend to keep my driver in the bag and stick with a 4 iron. I can nail the ball pretty far with my irons so I would rather take two shots with that than slice the fuck out of the ball with my driver.
It all works out usually. I can sometimes hit par on a par 4 or par 5 hole tee'ing off with a long iron. Two 200-or so yard iron shots, a solid pitch, and a putt.

pretend like there is a fishing line from your chin to your nuts, you lift your head, your nuts get hooked.. that should help.

judging by the whip of that club, you are using graphite. ditch the graphite, you are too strong for it. Keep your legs bent and eye on the ball.

At the range, get into your stance and cross your arms high on your chest (like you are doing a cross-armed front squat) and put the club in your arms like the bar would sit. Now practice the swing... when you would be drawing the club back, keep your head down and try to get the head of the club to point at the tee. On the swing motion, keep your head down and try to get the other end of the club to point at the tee. This motion will help teach you proper weight distribution throughout the course of the swing. Your legs are too straight for where the club is in that picture.

Also line a club up a few feet behind the ball at the range and use it as a guide to bring your club back, this helps you bring the club back straight.

I've only been to the range but I want to try golfing so bad.

I'm like some of you, I slice the ball every single fuckin time. It's like clockwork. I need to turn my whole body to the left and hit it like that so it will curve around and land straight in front of me.

    Shit is aggrevating.

The problem with my slice is also that my body leads before my shoulders square up. When I make contact the club face is open on the ball due to this. If I try, I can correct it for a brief moment, but if I drive 10 balls at the range 7 of them will slice and 3 will be damn near perfect 300 yard drives. I just can't get consistant with the shit. I even picked up a better club (A Big Bertha) and it helped a bit, but the problem is mostly in my down swing and follow through.

The odd thing is that I only have this problem with drivers and woods. My long iron game is fairly solid and my short iron game is very good for the amount of time i've been playing (or so i've been told).

I think my issue is that I just want to smack the fuck out of that ball as hard as I can.

I had that at first. I got over real quick when I went to range and saw 50 year old asian men that probably weigh 140lbs soaking wet driving the ball 280 yards.

My uncle is 30 y/o and 5' 10" 175lbs with no muscle mass and he is the local long-distance driving champion. Smashes the ball more than 300 yards without effort.

    Been a semi-serious golfer since I was 10yrs old.

Hit the range a ton then look into getting a set of clubs. Maybe a lesson or two and youll be on your way.

Playing alot is the key to getting better. Obviously.
