i'm probably gonna wait until all the bugs get worked out (remember the banding issues with the d200?) and until the price drops. then i'll be:coold:

They are fucking HUGE... the 14-24 is massive!!!

The both of them are being passed around right now.

I get the D300 and the 24-70 on Monday

I work with the Nikon Tech support group

By the way, does the 14-24 have a lens cap? I know the front element is curved, so it doesn't accept filters, but what about a lens cap?

What do you mean "big version"? I've never seen the 10.5 cap.

Is it an actual plastic lens cap like the others, or is sort of like a cover like the huge telephotos have?

    There is the 14-24 F2.8

    Heavy chunk of glass.

There it is with the lens cap on. It just slides over the end of the lens. and its to protect the HUGE domed front element below!

Its very fast to focus obviously. Havent had alot of time to get some shots. Maybe remembrance day tomorrow will hold some possibilities.

DAMN. How did you get one already?

That bulging front element makes me nervous that I'd whack it on something.
